My schedule includes seeing patients Monday -Wednesday, days and evenings and even on the weekends, as needed. I have over 20 years experience working in mental health working in the mental health field which includes: several years working in an acute psychiatric setting; four years working in child welfare services; over four years working in forensics; and twelve years working with the chronically mentally ill in a residential setting.
I am very familiar with working with mood, psychotic and personality disorders. I also have a long history of working with people with relationship and addiction issues. I specialize and enjoy working with trauma, both in adults and teenagers. My treatment modalities include evidenced based treatments such as dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I stress the importance of top down therapy (yoga, talk therapy) and bottom up therapy (dancing, theatrics, exercise, walking). I do work with my patients’ psychiatrists or primary medical doctors if my patients are on medications or need a special referral. I am trained in EMDR, eye movement desensitization reprocessing.
Group Therapy experience includes facilitating Anger Management groups for people on probation and parole and holding anxiety prevention and intervention workshops.
Special Trainings include: Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Administrator certification; Crisis Intervention Training; Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor Training; Strengthening Families; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Training; Structured Analysis Family Evaluation Certified; Mental Health First Aid; Seeking Safety; ProAct Trainers Training; Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing certified. I attend psycho-education and training on a regular basis to keep my practice up with what is being studied around us.
